On the 18th and 19th of May, the NanoCarb final Symposium took place at the Mario Negri Institute in Milan, Italy. The event was organised by the ESRs in the Mario Negri Institute, CNR and VITO.

This event included keynote speeches from a multidisciplinary panel of clinicians and researchers:

  • Prof. Giuseppe Remuzzi, medical doctor and Director of the Mario Negri Institute provided his insights on the application of nanomedicine in clinical settings.
  • Prof. Luisa de Cola, chemist and Director of the Materials and Health Unit of the Mario Negri Institute, talked about the exploitation of porous materials as drug delivery systems and diagnostics.

  • Dr. Laura Mechtouff, stroke neurologist and deputy head of the Stroke Department of the Lyon Hospital, discussed the role of lectin complement pathway in stroke.

The keynote speeches were followed by presentations from our 15 ESRs. This was the occasion for them to present their latest results and receive feedback on their progress from an audience composed of clinicians, researchers and industry representatives.

The event also included networking activities where the partners and the ESRs had the chance to discuss the main project findings and the impact in a more informal way.
